KEY STAGE 3 Curriculum
At Brampton Manor Academy, we follow the key stage 3 National Curriculum, which equips our students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to become confident and proficient life-long learners. Not only does our curriculum provide a solid foundation for progression to Key Stage 4, it offers our students a wide range of opportunities to develop a real love for learning. There are a range of enrichment opportunities and a very strong focus on acquisition and mastery of the key skills of literacy and numeracy. Our curriculum also actively promotes the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our students. In addition, our students gain a clear understanding of the fundamental British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.
Home Learning
Home learning and homeworks provide our students with opportunities to develop valuable independent learning skills. The home learning tasks are varied and include: questions to check understanding and consolidate learning; research-based activities; individual/group projects. The project tasks enable students to develop the Brampton Manor Skill Set (please see below). Home learning tasks are not set weekly and parents are encouraged to take an active interest in the work done. Pupils will be issued with a diary, which will contain a copy of the home learning timetable. The diary must be carried in their bag to each lesson, and homework must be entered on the relevant page. Parents are asked to look at the Diary and to sign it at the end of each week.
Enrichment in Key stage 3
Our students are offered a wide range of extracurricular activities. In addition to after-school clubs in curriculum subjects such as science, drama and dance clubs, we offer a wide range of sports clubs such as netball, football, rugby and basketball. Our basketball club is run in partnership with Greenhouse and our students are trained by professional basketball coaches. We also have a strong partnership with London Youth Rowing and have a thriving rowing club for all key stage 3 students.
We have a fully equipped gym and fitness suite with state-of-the-art facilities for our students and run by qualified fitness instructors. We are unique in having a school farm in this area of London with various farm animals, greenhouses and raised beds for growing vegetables. The farm is run by students, with the assistance of a farm manager.
Our students take part in a wide range of competitions such as debating, music and drama productions. Our Arts facilities are outstanding and there are clubs in Art & Design, Photography, Product Design, Drama and Music.
Our students also on numerous trips within the country and beyond. Annually, trips are organised to France, Germany, Spain and Austria.
